The Answers You Need

  • What do I have to pay and when?
    Your first two payments will be towards a non-refundable application fee of R240 and a non-refundable fee of R1300 for the selection assessment done through TTS.
  • What is the first step in the application process?
    The first step is to make sure that you meet the minimum admissions criteria and to complete and submit the online application form. ​ Remember to use the programme qualification code P1BA21 when applying to ensure that you apply to the TSB PDBA programme. ​ You will then also have to submit all your relevant documentation.   • How many classes will I have to attend each week?
    You will attend two to three classes each week. These are held on a Saturday from 07:00 to 14:15. You will also have to attend an online class on one weekday evening. ​ Click here to download the PDBA Brochure
  • What are the keys dates for applications?
    We start accepting applications for the PDBA programme from 01 June. First closing date: 30 September Late closing date: 15 October An overview of the PDBA application process is presented below.
  • When does the programme start?
    The programme starts in the second week of January of each year and an academic year consists of three 10 week trimesters. ​ The first trimester starts in January; the second trimester in May and the third trimester in August.
  • Can I pay in instalments?
    Yes, our PDBA programme fee can be paid in three instalments during your year of study. This makes our programme very affordable for students who are not being sponsored.
  • What are the fees?
    An estimation of the fees for the next academic year can be obtained from the Student Accounts office, email MthombeniSP@tut.ac.za
  • When does the programme start?
    Our MBA is a 2 year promgramme. The programme starts in the second week of January of each year and an academic year consists of three 10 week trimesters. The first trimester starts in January; the second trimester in May and the third trimester in August. There is a recess from mid-November to mid-January.
  • What is the application sequence?

  • Can I pay in instalments?
    Yes, our MBA fees can be paid in three instalments per year. This makes our MBA programme very affordable for students who are not being sponsored.
  • What are the fees?
    We are one of the most affordable and best value-for-money MBA Programmes in South Africa. An estimation of the fees for the next academic year can be obtained from the Student Accounts office, email MthombeniSP@tut.ac.za
  • Can i receive credits for modules completed in other qualifications on a Masters level?
    The South African Higher Education Qualification Committee (HEQC) allows accredited MBA programmes to only afford credits for MBA modules completed on another accredited MBA Programme. As an institution, we can only offer up to 50% of credits for modules done elsewhere.
  • What do I have to pay and when?

  • How many classes will I have to attend each week?
    Students attend two to three classes each week. These are held on Saturdays from 07:00 to 14:15. Gauteng students attend classes in Pretoria while the Mbombela and Polokwane students attend classes on-line. ​ Click here to download the MBA Brochure

  • What are the keys dates for applications?
    MBA applications open on 01 June. First closing date: 30 September Late closing date: 15 October Applications for our RPL route open on 01 March and close on 30 June.
  • Why must I do the Advanced research Methodology module BEFORE being considered for admission?
    MBA research is not sufficient preparation for research at the doctoral level. It is therefore expected that prospective candidates complete the online module in Advanced Research Methodology before beginning their doctoral study. ​ Prospective candidates can apply to be exempted from this module if they have successfully completed a full master’s dissertation or doctoral thesis or by providing proof that they were previously exposed to research methodology learning with the same outcomes and at the same level as that of this module.
  • How many hours per week are required?
    We recommend that candidates dedicate at least 20 hours per week to their research project.
  • When can I join?
    We begin accepting applications from 01 April each year and close on 30 August. If accepted, you will be ready for registration in March of the next year. The programme is normally completed in 3 to 5 years. The Research and Higher Degrees Committee will consider whether there is a case for extensions of time beyond 7 years.
  • How much will it cost and how long will it take?
    Please contact the Student Accounts office at MthombeniSP@tut.ac.za for a quotation. You can also see the “Fee Structure” tab above for an idea of the fees. The degree will take a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 5 years.
  • What is the application sequence?

  • Will I be automatically accepted if I successfully complete the Advanced Research Methodology module?
    No, you will only be accepted if you successfully defend your comprehensive proposal and are approved by the final panel for registration.
