Introduction

The TSB Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (PDBA) is a management development programme aimed at all graduates with work experience and who demonstrate the potential to become successful general managers. The programme aims to provide students with broad-based theoretical and practical knowledge, and broad exposure to the processes and functions of business and public sector management within the context of an integrated, holistic organisational approach and a transforming socio-economic setting.

Our PDBA focuses on the fundamentals of business operations to integrate all relevant disciplines, such as human resources, change management and corporate entrepreneurship, into the overall strategic plan of an organisation. A practical hands-on approach is taken in this programme, with a strong focus on problem-solving and management competencies. This programme complements functional understanding with a holistic approach, by providing students with the relevant perspectives and skills required to operate effectively in a managerial role and to lead effectively across functions and cultures.

The primary purpose of this programme is to prepare candidates for senior administration roles and first line management positions in the private and public sectors. Throughout the programme, the emphasis will evolve from an operational to a more strategic perspective of management within a business context. The programme will further provide learners with competencies that will prepare them to be lifelong learners, managers and entrepreneurs that are able to work with self-direction and originality to make a contribution to business, communities and society as a whole.
